Flaws
*Absent-minded: the character with this quirk is, as described, absentminded. He has a tendency to forget names, schedules, appointments, etc..., at the most inopportune times. If necessary, the absent-minded character must make Reason FEATs to remember things at -2 CS.
*Insomnia: this quirk prevents one from sleeping effectively. In order to get a decent amount of sleep, the character must pass a Psyche FEAT roll at -2 CS to calm himself enough to sleep. If this fails, the character will get little or no sleep, with dire effect. For one thing, he'll be drowsy all day. This has a tendency to lower all FEAT rolls by -1 CS for the duration of that day, reflecting the lack of energy and focus caused by not getting enough rest...
*Impulsiveness: an impulsive character is one that consistently jumps the gun, doing thing right as they occur to them. To resist the urge to act on a whim, the character must make a Reason FEAT roll at -1 CS, the failure of which indicates that he goes with his 'bad self'. *
*Compulsiveness: the compulsive character has a habit, usually bad, that he finds himself doing all the time. Chewing nails, twiddling thumbs, and so on. To stop himself from subconsciously fiddling around, the character must pass a Psyche FEAT roll at a -1 CS. *
Quirks
*Likeability: if anything else, this character has charisma. When interacting with others, the character receives NPC reactions that are one place more favorable, unless they are already counted as hostile (per the Using Popularity rules on page 17 of the Player's Handbook).*
*Assistant: essentially a side kick, the assistant helps the character out when necessary. He might be a behind the scenes assistant, like a techie or butler, or a more hands-on aide, such as a partner in crime (so to speak) who assists in battle.
*High Stress Capacity: this quirk shows that the character knows how to keep his cool, even in the face of great danger or frustrating circumstances. The character has a +2 CS when attempting to maintain a cool demeanor in the face of adversity.
*Fortitude: characters with fortitude are allowed to calculate their Mental Health score as if their Psyche rank was +1 CS. This will result in a much higher Mental Health score, especially if the character already has a high Psyche rank

Personality
Roberta is a very direct and forward woman, she doesn't mess about. Direct and to the point, she expects everyone around her to know what she's talking about, even when rambling on about her sciences. Some may think her to be rude, but it's just that her extrovert like nature leads people to think she's bossy. Whenever in a situation she can control, she will easily take charge unless there's a defined leader. When not in dire life threatening situations, she's a little easier going, and happy to talk about her projects. Happiest when she's locked in the lab or working on a project in her spare room.
History
Roberta was born into a privaleged family, and had a good start in life. Her father, like his father before him, studied at Oxford and had a doctorate in Biology. He had also spent a large part of his life in the army. Having retired from the military, he still gave talks and lectures on military bases. Her mother was a quiet woman who, while intelligent, was never expected to do anything aside from take care of the family. Born into a family with three elder brothers, she had a lot to live up to. Her eldest brother was already a doctor by the time he finished university, pioneering several new surgeries. The next eldest was more interested in engineering, and went on to become a leading mind on robotics and next generation technology. The third was more of an archaeology nut, and spent most of his days off on some 'mystical' dig.
Roberta was unable to decide where her path lay, as all brothers doted on her, especially when her mother passed away. Roberta was just 10 when she passed, and suddenly her world was thrown upside down. Her father eventually remarried, but it just wasnt the same for her. Due to her fathers busy hours with both the University and the Military, the brothers often took turns at caring for her. Depending on which brother, she could often find herself out on a mini adventure for 2 days while Sebastian was digging in Cairo. Johnathan often took her to the lab to watch his latest tech project, while Nathan took the time to teach her simple biology. In this way, she learned little snippets here and there, but nothing solid.
Just as her mother before her, Roberta was expected to marry into a family and become a mother to that husband. To become the perfect woman for her husband, and not to think of a career. It wasnt her fathers fault, he was just doing as his father before him. However, Roberta had a taste of how exciting life could be, and there was no way she was going to give up before she'd begun. Throwing herself into her studies as a way of coping after her mothers death, she made sure to absorb as much information as possible. Living within the 12 bedroom stately home, there were plenty of nooks and places to hide off and study. The home had a large library, which was her favourite place to sit and think. She never told anyone about the footsteps or the jangling chains sounds she heard. Roberta definitely never told anyone about the little boy called Eustace and the little girl called Rachel, who she used to sit and talk to in the library. Roberta never thought this was odd or peculiar, she had almost always known they were there and no one had ever told her that these things should not be.
Consequently her curiosity got the better of her and she explored the rest of the house often, learning of its history and previous occupants. She grew a thirst for knowledge of the weird, the strange and the downright spooky. Learning the limited amount she could from the library wasn't enough. She wanted more. While studying in college, she picked up several other occult books as she tried to divine why she was able to see these things and no one else was. Trying her hand at magic spells failed utterly, she had no ability whatsoever for even the smallest trickle of magic. Nevertheless, she still pursued her quest for knowledge by visiting known haunted establishments, in an attempt to understand why.
Knowing as she did, that a career in the paranormal would destroy her family, she worked hard to gain a doctorate in Biology instead. While studying for her doctorate, she couldn't decide what to specialise in. Having a fascination with the way the mind works, she applied most of her skill to neurosciences and psychology. Due to her brothers input however, she also took some time to tinker with gadgets, gaining a fondness for computers.
Before she graduated fully, her father was in an accident that confined him to a wheelchair. Never saying how it happened, he was never the same man again afterwards. Roberta spent as much time as she could caring for him. Deciding to put her knowledge of biology to work with her love of computing, she started to learn up and read about cybernetics. Never getting to the stage she put things together in the lab, she was just as fascinated with the concept of bionics and cybernetics as she had been with the occult lore she'd studied.
Intending to take up a research position in a University lab for a few years, things didn't quite work out for her. Shortly after she'd published a controversial paper, under a psyeudonym, two men came knocking at her door. They knew of her father, and his work was top in the field. Not telling her what it was, they introduced themselves as SHIELD. As her father had contacts, they knew all about her, even some of the things she thought she'd hidden well. The reason they had come to visit is that they needed her area of expertise on a delicate project. Not really giving her the opportunity to decline, the agents whisked her away to help them with the dilemna they faced.
After successfully surprising the SHIELD agents with her thesis, they invited her to stay on and work as an Agent for them. Giving her some training in basic defensive capabilities, they never really intended for her to work in the field. This was an arrangement she was very comfortable with. This was until she was re-assigned to the NY branch of SHIELD, for unknown reasons. What fate is in store for her, only time will tell.
